  2. 13-5-2024 Hello GPT-4o (“o” for “omni”)  ref: openai

is a step towards much more natural human-computer interaction

It can respond to audio inputs in as little as 232 milliseconds, with an average of 320 milliseconds , which is similar to human response time in a conversation (ref: pnas Universals and cultural variation in turn-taking in conversation).

rob: da un punto di vista tecnico il fatto che sia:

multimodale e real-time (e non singolo modo, es solo voce, ed in differita)

e' un grosso passo poiche' lo situa di fronte-accanto a te con l'usuale sistema di comunicazione interumana.

I mean we had this for like almost 2 years now. The only difference is now it can talk to you in 'human' voice and not just text in chat window. It's still great but nothing special, I would say it won't be used more than a normal copilot.

This is such a slow and awkward experience. I don't need the chat interface to have fake vocal tics. It's weird to the point of being embarrassing, because it's so obviously just a reaching carbon-copy of a sci-fi concept rather than a well-thought-out application of the technology as it really exists. Like flying cars.

Eh... I work in this field, and it's pretty common for your codebase to be MUCH more contorted than this, and I wonder if it could give me useful information on that (not a static analysis, which is a solved problem). And honestly, if I need explaining about what kind of data a function takes or returns, I can already use VS Code for that. The cool part would be the summary of the code, but again, it would need to do that correctly and formally (EG link me to files, definitions etc) for much more complicated programs.

Learning and schooling is going to drastically change.

Perhaps for the better... But it is still a choice...
What’s the point of school anymore? We all have 24/7 dedicated teachers now
