   A self-improving agent is not only producing outputs. It is modifying the conditions under which future outputs and actions become possible — its prompts, tools, helper agents, memory, and operating strategy.
   That means oversight cannot be limited to the original deployment state. The live adaptation loop itself has to remain traceable, bounded, interruptible, and answerable.
   The key question is not only “did the system improve?” but “did it remain governable while improving?”
